Borobudur, a magnificent temple in Magelang, Central Java, have been built around 824 AD by the king of Mataram dynasty named Samaratungga dynasty. The temple is so heavy it stood firm without a single nail lodged in his body as well.

The question has been raised: how to build Borobudur without plugging hundreds of nails to strengthen its foundation, and how the heavy stones that form Borobudur was appointed to the construction site on a hill?

The sophistication of today were difficult to explain the logic behind the construction of the Borobudur temple. Researchers Indonesia from Bandung Fe Institute, tried to answer. The three young re

searchers, Hokky Situngkir, Rolan Mauludy Dahlan, and Ardian Maulana explained, construction Borobudur using fractal geometry-based technology.

Fractals are geometric shapes that have similar elements as a whole. Being fractal rough and can be divided in a way that radically. Fractals have infinite detail, and can have similar structures at different levels of magnification. The term 'faktal' which is taken from the Latin language was discovered by Benoit Mandelbrot in 1975.

Fractal geometry that is visible in the stupas of Borobudur. As we know, a giant stupa Borobudur is which consists of other stupas smaller.
Researchers prove Bandung Fe Institute, Borobudur temple apparently was built with the principles of fractal. But if the theory of fractals in the past have been discovered and consciously implemented by our ancestors, remains to be investigated further.
